BGS Board Minutes 5 June 2006 (approval pending)

BREVARD GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
Minutes of the Board Meeting, 5 June 2006

Attendees: Dorrie Dykstra, Frank Bryan, Dee Swink, Jodelle Wilson, Jim and Bonnie Garmon, Barbara Maloney, Thana Cottrell and Patrice Green.

In the absence of the President, Dorrie Dykstra called the meeting to order at 9:35 AM. The Secretary was absent, so minutes were taken by Patrice Green.

The minutes of the May meeting were read by Dorrie Dykstra and approved.

The Treasurer reported a balance of $ as of 31 May 2006. She also reported that she found a copy of the Articles of Incorporation. Patrice will contact Jim Fulton about the original. Thana will order new membership cards. She requests that small reimbursements be bundled so checks will last until the new Treasurer in December.

Dorrie has the following speakers: June -- Patrice Green, Internet Security and Tips for the Genealogist; July -- Workshop, Brickwalls; August -- Workshop, Digitizing Photos; September -- Ragusa's, Research in Europe, including Eastern Europe; October -- Diane Young, BLM; November -- Patti Kirk, Orgainzation by the Foot; December -- Installation of New Officers and Holiday Social.

Frank Bryan is doing computer videos.

There were no reports from Vera Zimmerman, Mary Jane Law and Joan Bullard

Jodelle Wilson reported that there were 61 members and 2 guests at the May Meeting. She also received 200 sheets of yellow film sheets from Insource, 241 Live Oak Blvd., Casselberry, FL 32707 Phone 1-888-241-7775, Fax 1-888-270-3399, www.film-source.net. They are ordered as Copier Transparency, #FX-400Y-Yellow, No Stripe. It was suggested that she put the yellow transparencies inside sheet protectors and sell them for $1.00

Barbara needs articles for the newsletter. She requested permission to put the blank surname list in the newsletter. Patrice so moved, Thana seconded. Passed unanimously.

Patrice reported that the dissolution of the East Central Florida Genalogical Society Coop is complete. A check will be issued shortly. The results of the computer survey will be sent to Barbara for publication in the newsletter.

Indian River Genealogical Society is sponsoring a Tri-County Share Fest and is requesting BGS participation. They want money, speakers and door prizes to be donated for the event. The Board needs more information regarding speakers and content. Tabled until September for further discussion by the full board.

We need to sign a contract with Jana Broglin for the Brevard Societies January Workshop. Barbara moved that we do so, seconded by Thana, unanimous. Barbara moved that the Vice President sign the contract, seconded by Thana, unanimously approved.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:25 AM
